Magical Washington Square


我常常會經過華盛頓廣場,因為她是距離我家最近的公園。前天晚上經過華盛頓廣場,突然發現廣場的四周立起了一盞盞五顏六色的台燈,草地上還放有巨大的西洋棋,使得原本夜晚幽靜的華盛頓廣場突然變得可愛起來!台燈看起來很像一顆顆的大香菇,走在廣場裡好像在愛莉絲夢遊仙境。

其實華盛頓廣場的西南角有一小塊空地擺了很多桌子,常常會有很多人在下西洋棋,下棋的人看到一盞盞的檯燈散發出溫柔的光線,應該也會覺得好像回到熟悉的家裡客廳般,心情溫暖起來吧!

這是現在正在華盛頓廣場展示的裝置藝術-"Well-Lit Chess Pieces"。是藝術家Marjorie Kouns籌備數年的作品,記者問她這個裝置藝術的意義在哪裡呢? 她說 "The point is there is no point. It just makes you laugh and smile." 我想這次她真的達到目地囉!

真的是很有感覺呢
不知何時台灣的公園也會有類似這樣的裝置藝術出現
不過我無法想像一群穿著衛生衣和藍白托鞋的老人在如此夢幻的氛圍中打牌的情景.:p

WOW! Marjorie, I am so excited you visited my blog! Do you read Chinese? Hope you understand what I wrote. Its just a small article to share with my friends how I like this project. I am from Taiwan and moved to NYC about a year ago and I do not plan to leave anytime soon. I'd love to visit your studio sometime!
